MEET SUSAN

Susan has held Senior positions in HR and Learning and Development throughout out her career.  Her management career began at just 19 years old when she was promoted to Deputy Catering Manager for a UK restaurant chain, Debenhams Food Services. Due to her experience at successfully managing the day to day operations, recruiting and developing teams, analytical business skills and financial acumen, she was the SE England 'trouble shooter' for a variety of restaurants and coffee shops.  During her 5 years at Debenhams, Susan studied Human Resources and decided that she wanted to pursue her career in HR.

Her next role was with he Hotel and Catering Training Company as a Trainer and Assessor of national qualifications.  Over the next 4 years she trained, coached and assessed over 1000 students, all of which achieved qualifications within the hospitality industry.

After 9 years in the hospitality industry it was time to get out!

Susan's career excelled at Mayday Holdings. The business portfolio included Europcar franchises, Travel Extras Call Centre, Sterling Chauffeur Drive and Corporate Head Office. Her initial role was to set up the HR department, design policies & procedures, streamline the payroll system, corporate induction across the Group and improve communications.  Within 6 months this was achieved and more!  Before leaving Mayday Holdings to immigrate to Australia, Susan supported the expanding business operations, coached and developed the Directors and Managers, implemented a 5 year HR Strategy and led the HR team consisting of Training, HR Admin, Health and Safety and Quality Control.

                                                      Why Australia?

Approx 18 years ago Susan visited Australia and literally fell in love with this beautiful country. She would constantly talk to friends and family about life in Oz and that she would return.  With focused dedication and pure determination, the dream came true and within 6 months, Susan and Gary were accepted as permanent  residents  of Australia.   Welcome to Australia!

Her first HR related role was at Conrad Jupiters, managing the Training & Development Department for approx 1.5 years.  With  some adaption to the Gold Coast lifestyle, Susan began to really enjoy all the benefits of life!  Great career, friends, life work balance and beautiful beaches... life was bliss until it suddenly came to a unexpected halt with Tabcorps introduction of a Melbourne support centre and redundancies looming.  However, this situation didn't deter Susans passion for HR.

Her next role as Senior HR Manager for RCI combined her HR Management and Training skills.  Once again, Susan excelled at introducing national qualifications across the business, became the Senior Mgt Assessor for the APAC Development Centre in Singapore, introduced various initiatives to enhance HR and general business operations, was responsible for succession planning, cultural development, leadership and talent management. However, the inevitable happen again.  Due to an organisational re-structure, the role was made redundant.
